Prior to joining private healthcare, Dr Vikram Sonawane
worked at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) as a
Consultant Endocrinologist, providing expert endocrine
treatment to numerous patients and helping them
attain hormonal harmony.
After his Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP)
fellowship, he was appointed Lead of the Thyroid
Service at KTPH. He was instrumental in setting up the
Thyroid & Fine Needle Aspiration and Cytology (FNAC)
Clinic at KTPH. For Dr Vikram’s exemplary service and patient experience, he was awarded “Service Champion” by the KTPH quality committee on multiple occasions.
Dr Vikram is an accomplished Endocrinologist with
more than 12 years of experience in endocrinology. He
has worked as an expert Internist for more than 20
years.
Dr Vikram completed his undergraduate medical
training (MBBS) and postgraduate Masters in Internal
medicine (MD Medicine) from the University of Mumbai,
India. He was subsequently conferred fellowships
MRCP and FRCP from the Royal College of Physicians,
UK.
Moreover, he completed advanced specialty training
in endocrinology, diabetes & metabolism, and was
accredited as an Endocrinologist by the Ministry of
Health Singapore in 2015. He was awarded the
Ministry of Health’s HMDP sponsorship in 2015 for a
fellowship to get trained in Clinical Thyroidology,
Nodular Thyroid Disease, and Fine Needle Aspiration
Biopsy of the thyroid at the prestigious Mayo Clinic,
Rochester Minnesota, USA.
Not only was Dr Vikram Sonawane a visiting research
fellow at the acclaimed Mayo Clinic, but he has also
contributed to more than 6 peer-reviewed
endocrinology publications, such as case reports and
journals. His publications have garnered more than
350 reads, validating his scholarly achievements and
underscoring their insightful impact. Moreover, Dr
Vikram continually keeps abreast of recent trends in
endocrinology and is often invited to present at
reputable research forums and
scientific conferences.
Dr Vikram is keen on nurturing the next generation of
endocrinologists by teaching endocrinology at the
undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is
currently a Senior Lecturer at the Yong Loo Lin School
of Medicine (NUS) and Lee Kong Chian School of
Medicine (NTU). During his tenure, the esteemed
endocrinology educator has been serving as an MBBS
examiner, conducting regular bedside teaching to a
diverse group of health professionals, including
medical students, junior residents, senior residents,
and nurses.
